The Lake County Art League came into being in 1934, with the purpose of showcasing the works of the Lake County’s art’s community.  The late Phil Austin, a commercial artist and fine arts painter, was instrumental in the League’s start.

Our mission has changed through the years to that of education. One of the ways we support the education of upcoming artists is through our scholarship program with the College of Lake County.  Each year we give two $500 scholarships to selected CLC art students.  You can see and hear the winners for 2022 talk about how they created the winning works and what their plans are for the future by watching the interview with both of them on Youtube.  Interview with LCAL CLC Scholarship Winners

The Art League has demonstrations every month (with the exception of the summer months), Included are two highly thought of critiques in November and May of recent works by 30-40 members critiqued by a professional artist where the public is invited.  The league also holds workshops by eminent artists.  You can see some of the demos and interviews with various artists on our Lake County Art League YouTube channel.  All disciplines are covered. The League has a membership of over 70 artists.

The Art League also holds “On the Wall” exhibitions where members display their work at various businesses and community centers throughout Lake County.  The League also helps its members get their work out in the public space by supporting art shows in venues like the Starline Factory.  Most shows that we hold or participate in result in sales for our members.       Facebook
